The emerald cut is a rectangular cut with clipped corners, formed by broad, parallel facets arranged in steps. Rather than focusing on the intense brilliance of a round cut, it emphasizes long flashes of light, giving it a sophisticated and vintage look. Clarity (VS, SI) indicates the diamond's purity level. VS means inclusions are invisible to the naked eye, while SI may have very slight inclusions, usually undetectable without magnification. Color (D, E, F) measures the absence of yellowish tint: these three letters correspond to colorless diamonds, the purest and most prized.
Laboratory diamonds offer the same brilliance as natural diamonds and have the maximum diamond hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale. Moissanite is a different stone that sparkles with more colorful reflections and has a slightly lower hardness of 9.25. While they differ in their brilliance and precise hardness, both remain extremely durable for everyday wear.
